Institutional integrity and responsible engagement
MNCRIP is committed to responsible institutional conduct, appropriate governance, transparency, confidentiality, due diligence and compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
This page describes MNCRIP’s approach. It is not legal advice, and it does not itself create, evidence or replace any licence, registration or regulatory authorisation.
Our compliance principles
- Integrity
- We conduct our activities with integrity, accountability and professional responsibility.
- Transparency
- We provide clear and appropriately verified information, while protecting what is confidential, commercially sensitive or otherwise restricted.
- Due diligence
- Projects, partners, investment opportunities and financing relationships may be subject to due-diligence procedures before progressing.
- Responsible engagement
- We distinguish between preliminary discussions, opportunities under development, indicative proposals and formally agreed commitments.
- Confidentiality
- Sensitive institutional, commercial, financial, technical, legal and transaction information is subject to access controls.
- Data protection
- Personal information submitted through this website is handled in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.
Legal & regulatory framework
Which laws apply depends on the entity, project, transaction, jurisdiction and structure involved.
MNCRIP’s activities, and any future transactions, investment structures, financing arrangements, projects or regulated activities, may be subject to applicable laws, regulations, licences, permits, approvals and contractual requirements in the relevant jurisdictions.
Depending on the nature of an activity, relevant frameworks may include:
- Corporate and commercial law
- Investment legislation
- Securities market regulation
- Investment fund regulation
- Financial-sector regulation
- Anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing
- Personal data protection
- Environmental and social requirements
- Land and property regulation
- Tax requirements
- Employment and labour requirements
- Contractual and transaction law
- Applicable international agreements and standards
Investment & financial activities
The most important clause on this page.
MNCRIP presents investment opportunities, project concepts, financing structures and potential capital relationships as part of its development and investment ecosystem.
Information published on this website does not by itself establish an investment fund, a securities offering, regulated investment-management activity, a financial product or a financing commitment.
Where an activity requires a licence, registration, regulatory approval or other legal authorisation, that activity will be undertaken only through an appropriately established and authorised structure. Investment fund establishment and operation in Mongolia are subject to the applicable investment-fund and securities-market framework and to the requirements of the competent regulator.
Information for prospective investors
Preliminary, indicative and development-stage information is exactly that.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
- An investment opportunity is not an offer to sell securities.
- An expression of interest is not an investment commitment.
- An indicative amount is not a confirmed financing commitment.
Project information may change as development and due diligence progress. Any investment or financing transaction will be subject to definitive documentation and to applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Prospective investors should conduct their own independent evaluation and obtain appropriate legal, financial and tax advice before making any investment decision.
Project development & due diligence
What each published project stage does and does not assert.
MNCRIP distinguishes between stages of project development:
- Concept — An initial project idea or development concept.
- In development — The project is being further defined, structured or prepared.
- Pre-feasibility — Initial technical, commercial or financial feasibility work is under way.
- Feasibility — More detailed studies and assessments are being developed.
- Investment ready — Prepared to a defined level for consideration by investors or financing partners, subject to due diligence.
- Implementation — The project has progressed into an implementation phase.
- Operational — The project is built and running.
Project status does not constitute an assurance of financing, investment, approval or implementation.
Partner due diligence
Depth of review scales with the nature, scale, risk and stage of the proposed relationship.
MNCRIP may review prospective partners before and during a relationship. Such review may include:
- Legal identity
- Corporate registration
- Ownership and control
- Beneficial ownership, where applicable
- Relevant licences and authorisations
- Financial standing
- Relevant experience
- Reputation and integrity
- Conflicts of interest
- Sanctions and compliance screening
- Technical capability
- ESG considerations
Anti-money laundering & counter-terrorist financing
Obligations depend on the legal entity, the activity and its regulatory status.
MNCRIP supports appropriate measures to prevent its platform, projects, partnerships or financial relationships being misused for money laundering, terrorist financing or other unlawful activity. Mongolia has a specific Law on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism, and applicable obligations arise under it and related regulation.
Where applicable to a particular activity or entity, measures may include:
- Customer or counterparty identification
- Beneficial ownership review
- Source-of-funds or source-of-wealth information
- Sanctions screening
- Risk assessment
- Transaction monitoring
- Record keeping
- Enhanced due diligence for higher-risk relationships
Conflicts of interest
Identified, disclosed and managed rather than assumed absent.
MNCRIP seeks to identify and manage actual, potential and perceived conflicts of interest, which may arise in relation to investment opportunities, project selection, partner and related-party relationships, advisory relationships, financing arrangements, procurement, commercial interests and governance responsibilities.
Where a conflict is identified, disclosure, mitigation, recusal, approval or other measures may be applied according to the circumstances.
Environmental & social responsibility
Requirements are set during preparation, financing and due diligence.
MNCRIP seeks to support projects that address environmental, social and governance factors appropriate to their nature, scale and location. Depending on the project, considerations may include:
- Land and ecosystem impacts
- Water resources
- Biodiversity
- Climate resilience
- Community engagement and livelihoods
- Labour and working conditions
- Health and safety
- Cultural heritage
- Local community considerations
- Resource efficiency
- Monitoring and reporting
Partner representation
A name or logo on this site is not, by itself, a claim of partnership.
The appearance of an organisation’s name, logo or information on this website should not be interpreted as an endorsement, a formal partnership or a financial relationship. MNCRIP distinguishes between:
- Confirmed Partner — A partnership is documented and in force.
- Strategic Partner — A documented partnership at institutional and strategic level.
- Programme Partner — A documented partnership on one or more strategic programmes.
- Project Partner — A documented partnership on a specific project.
- Knowledge Partner — A documented research, evidence or technical cooperation relationship.
- Supporting Organisation — An organisation providing documented support without a partnership agreement.
- Prospective Partner — A relationship being explored. Nothing is agreed.
- Under Discussion — Contact has been made and a conversation is open. Nothing is agreed.
Formal partnership claims are supported by documentation. At the date of publication, no organisation is named as a partner on this site.
COP17 & international engagement
References to official processes describe participation, not status.

MNCRIP is not a United Nations body, a UNCCD body or a government entity, and does not represent itself as one. Reference to an official institution or event does not imply its endorsement or accreditation.

Users should verify material information with the Executive Secretariat, or against controlled documentation, before relying on it for a significant decision.
Third-party information
A reference is not an endorsement.
MNCRIP may reference or link to information published by governments, international organisations, development institutions, research organisations, partners and other third parties. Reference to a third-party organisation, project, publication or website does not constitute endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, certification, approval or financial commitment unless expressly stated and verified.
